چکیده

In the design of high-performance applications eecient performance prediction is essential in order to evaluate the parallelization strategy. We present a performance simulation approach which enables a quick, yet accurate prediction of the eeect of mapping strategies and architectural parameters on the performance of parallel Finite Element Method (FEM) solvers for distributed-memory machines.

Parallel Octree-Based Finite Element Method for Large-Scale Earthquake Ground Motion Simulation

We present a parallel octree-based finite element method for large-scale earthquake ground motion simulation in realistic basins. The octree representation combines the low memory per node and good cache performance of finite difference methods with the spatial adaptivity to local seismic wavelengths characteristic of unstructured finite element methods. Several tests are provided to verify the...

A Comparison Between Electrical Circuit and Finite Element Modeling Methods for Performance Analysis of a Three-Phase Induction Motor under Voltage Unbalance

Induction motor is the most popular load in the industry, it is very important to study about the effects of voltage quality on induction motor performance. One of the most important voltage quality problems in power system is voltage unbalance. This paper evaluates and compares two methods including finite element method (FEM) and equivalent electrical circuit simulation for investigation ...

Speeding up the Stress Analysis of Hollow Circular FGM Cylinders by Parallel Finite Element Method

In this article, a parallel computer program is implemented, based on Finite Element Method, to speed up the analysis of hollow circular cylinders, made from Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). FGMs are inhomogeneous materials, which their composition gradually varies over volume. In parallel processing, an algorithm is first divided to independent tasks, which may use individual or shared da...

Scalable Solutions to Integral-Equation and Finite-Element Simulations - Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on

When developing numerical methods, or applying them to the simulation and design of engineering components, it inevitably becomes necessary to examine the scaling of the method with a problem’s electrical size. The scaling results from the original mathematical development; for example, a dense system of equations in the solution of integral equations, as well as the specific numerical implemen...
